A BILL to amend article two, chapter twenty of the code of West
Virginia, one thousand nine hundred thirty-one, as amended, by
adding thereto a new section, designated section sixteen-a,
relating to making it a crime to train dogs during the spring
period.
Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That article two, chapter twenty of the code of West Virginia,
one thousand nine hundred thirty-one, as amended, be amended by
adding thereto a new section, designated section sixteen-a, to read
as follows:
ARTICLE 2. WILDLIFE RESOURCES.
§20-2-16a. Dog training restricted as to season; penalty.

It shall be unlawful and constitute a misdemeanor offense for
any person to train a dog for hunting or any other purpose on any
land, enclosed or unenclosed, during the period between the first day of April and the thirtieth day of June of each year.

NOTE: The purpose of this bill is to protect wildlife and
prevent conflicts between the dogs being trained and the public.
